@Diego Armando Maradona was an Argentine football player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He was born on October 30, 1960, in Lanús, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grew up in a poor family.

Maradona began his football career at the age of 9 when he joined a local club called Los Cebollitas. He then moved to Buenos Aires to play for Argentinos Juniors and made his professional debut in 1976, at the age of 16.

In 1982, Maradona transferred to Barcelona FC, where he played for two seasons before moving to Napoli in Italy in 1984. He helped Napoli win two Serie A titles, the UEFA Cup, and the Italian Super Cup during his seven-year stint with the club.

Maradona also led Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup, scoring the famous "Hand of God" goal against England in the quarterfinals and a spectacular solo effort in the same game. He also played in the 1990 World Cup final, where Argentina lost to West Germany.

Off the pitch, Maradona had a controversial personal life and battled drug addiction. He was suspended twice for drug use during his playing career and later suffered from health problems related to his drug abuse.
